Back in the fall of 1996, a skinny eighth-grader was looking for a way to get ready for the business world. He signed up for business classes and dreamed of an office job where he could work inside and read in his spare time.
Then a local plumbing shop called. They needed help in the office, and he thought it sounded perfect. The first week quickly changed that picture.
The phone never stopped ringing. Bills had to go out. Shelves needed restocking. The warehouse was cold and crowded with parts he had never seen before. The new job felt overwhelming, and more than once he was close to tears.
Over time, things started to make sense.

He figured out what made a regular elbow different from a street elbow.
He figured out the difference between PVC and CPVC and even learned how to rebuild softeners and water pumps.
The curious kid who once played with batteries and fire in grade school found out that his curiosity actually had a place in the world. Plumbing, water treatment, and basic electrical work began to make sense. Even more, he discovered that he loved the challenge of solving real problems for real people.
As the years went by, he drove the highways and byways of Holmes County and beyond, fixing leaks, treating water, and getting systems back up and running. With each job, a deeper desire formed:
